October is coming to an end and so it’s time to visit our neighboring village again!
There lives and works our friend Linna as an organic farmer (and who is -by the way- Björns sister, who is married to Linas and my cousin Maren. So we are also somehow related to Linna, right?)
Among other things, she grows the most ingenious pumpkins and every year we hope that she manages to grow a pumpkin so big that we can carve the Cinderella carriage out of it.
She hasn’t managed to grow pumpkins that gigantic yet, but the MEGA pumpkins she sells on her farm are really great for carving Halloween pumpkins, making pumpkin soup out of them…or for seating!
She doesn’t use artificial fertilizers or pesticides, but what the organic fertilizer is that she uses instead is a trade secret that perhaps only her constant companion, Pips the pig, is privy to.
Together, they are seen more outdoors than indoors throughout the year, and so the two probably enjoy – as they do every time – the special atmosphere of Samhain out in the field, where they are closest to nature.
